Convicted on 23 counts, and each count carries ten years. So under the Sentencing Guidelines, theoretically, 230 years plus any additional time added through “enhancements,” like ring leader enhancement and sophisticated means ( using fax or computer in committing a fraud)
I don’t know if the title/subject of this post should have been Obituary of Justice, but it sure can be read as one.
FROM THE IMPOSSIBLE, WE WILL SEE A MIRACLE
Dr. Akula’s illustrious career will not end, but I am sure he will persevere! He is a man of conviction and faith. It is not his obituary, for sure. I have known Dr. Akula for more than a decade. The highest levels of the government recognize his services to this community.
A man with a great sense of purpose and integrity who was successful in Business. I couldn’t believe it when I heard of his indictment. I know that referrals to his Hospice came from the doctors at Ochsner, and the government went after Dr. Akula’s agency for providing the services ordered.

DANCING AT THE ORDERS OF THE RING MASTERS
I am shocked at the outcome of the jury trial, but knowing how the judges tilted the trial in favor of the government, I am not surprised.
Dr. Akula, sincerely believing in his innocence, boldly decided to go for a trial. His belief in his innocence was not wrong. He also believed that America had a great justice system.
THIS ATTACK ON DOCTORS PRACTICING MEDICINE MUST BE STOPPED!!!
Unless the doctors wake up and realize that it is Akula today, still tomorrow, it could be any one of the doctors practicing medicine.
We can only bring this message to our colleagues.
This war on doctors has claimed many of our colleagues; we will not forget Dr. Akula, and we have not forgotten the other healthcare providers who have been previously persecuted.

The (DoC) – Doctors of Courage will never forget him, and this story of the Travesty of Justice abuse of data analytical targeting will not be the last story. The members of the DoC are fighting to ensure what has been happening to healthcare providers through Government data fraud doesn’t continue to happen to others. We will not succumb to DOJ-DEA Data Fraud Injustice through manipulation and manufacturing.
WE WILL NOT SUCCUMB TO THESE RINGMASTERS WHILE MEDIA ACTS AS PROSECUTOR’S PARROTS
The 97 % success rate of the government means “guilty as charged.” The rest of the circus we see is conducted by the prosecutors, the ringmasters of DOJ, and the doctors, their lawyers, and the judge are there to dance at the orders of these ringmasters. The media acts as the prosecutor’s parrot.
They had little interest in doing any in-depth coverage or investigation because it was not commercially viable. “They got the wrong guy” doesn’t sell. A producer at CNBC told me that his bosses want the simple stories of greedy ad guys (doctors) caught by the Knights of Justice.
Given this landscape, it is hard to let the Hope grow but forget the yardstick of “results.” The DoC should measure its success by the effort and commitment to carry the torch of the mission of the DoC.
