“If there is no struggle, there is no progress. Those who profess to favor freedom and yet deprecate agitation are men who want crops without plowing the ground. They want rain without thunder and lightning. They want the ocean without the roar of its mighty waters.“

On December 19, 2025, Dr. Richard A. Kaul, MD Passed on
THE LION

This article, updated 02/23/2026, profiles the career and legal struggles of Dr. Richard Arjun Kaul, a spine surgeon celebrated by the author as a “Lion of Medicine” for his pioneering work in minimally invasive surgical techniques.

The text highlights his development of the percutaneous lumbar fusion and his global philanthropic efforts before detailing a contentious legal battle involving the revocation of his medical license by New Jersey authorities.

Framing his professional downfall as the result of judicial corruption and regulatory overreach, the piece depicts Kaul not as a negligent provider but as a victim of a broader “war on doctors” and systemic issues of racketeering.

The Lion of Medicine: Dr. Richard Arjun Kaul’s Transformative Journey in Spine Surgery
In the bustling city of Yonkers, NY, on October 13, 2023, Dr. Richard Arjun Kaul, MD, was honored with inclusion in the prestigious Marquis Who’s Who.
This recognition, reserved for individuals of notable prominence and significant accomplishments, marks a crowning achievement in the life of a man whose journey through the world of medicine has been nothing short of extraordinary.

Dr. Kaul’s story begins in London, where he was born and raised. His academic journey took flight at the Royal Free Hospital School of Medicine at University College London from 1983 to 1988. Here, he earned his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degrees, setting the stage for a career defined by dedication and innovation.

Kaul’s Journey Into the Understanding of the Human Spine
Following his graduation, Dr. Kaul embarked on his medical career with two pivotal internships—first in internal medicine and then in surgery. These experiences at The Lister Hospital and the Academic Department of Medicine at his alma mater provided him with a solid foundation.
His pursuit of excellence led him across the Atlantic to the United States, where he completed his residency in surgery and anesthesiology at the renowned Montefiore Medical Center in New York in 1995.

Returning to the UK, Dr. Kaul completed a fellowship in interventional pain management at the Bristol Royal Infirmary. He spent six years as a general physician before moving into private practice, with a focus on minimally invasive spine surgery.
By 2001, he had settled in the United States and, in 2005, opened the New Jersey Spine and Rehabilitation practice. Here, as owner, president, and lead physician and surgeon, he applied his extensive expertise in spine rehabilitation, general surgery, anesthesiology, and interventional pain management.

Among Dr. Kaul’s most significant contributions is the invention of the percutaneous lumbar fusion procedure in 2005.
This groundbreaking technique revolutionized spine surgery, eliminating the need for aggressive surgical interventions often associated with high rates of infection, nerve damage, and poor patient outcomes.

Dr. Kaul’s procedure, characterized by same-day surgery, minimal blood loss, and low infection rates, allows patients to return to their daily lives swiftly. His pioneering work in this field has transformed patient care and educated and inspired a new generation of minimally invasive spine surgeons.
Beyond his surgical innovations, Dr. Kaul’s philanthropic spirit shines through establishing The Spine Africa Project in 2008. This initiative aims to provide minimally invasive spine surgery to the people of Africa by establishing surgical centers across the continent.
Complementing this project is ‘The Invictus Initiative,’ a program designed to help incarcerated men in the United States change their perspectives on life challenges and chart new paths toward positive futures.

UNDERSTANDING D.E.A. LAW ENFORCEMENT “WAR ON DRUGS” CARRIED OUT ON ANESTHESIOLOGIST: THE CASE AGAINST DR. RICHARD KAUL AND DR. ARNOLD FELDMAN, MD et Al.
A few days ago, Dr. Kaul informed us that the U.S. Supreme Court has docketed for consideration his writ of mandamus in the matter of Richard Arjun Kaul v. Christopher J. Christie (16-CV-02364). Dr. Kaul is seeking a staggering “$28,000 trillion” in financial damages, which he claims result from the “illegal revocation” of his medical license by the state of New Jersey.
His lawsuit includes 22 motions for summary judgment against a wide array of defendants, including former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, the New Jersey State Board of Medical Examiners, Warren Buffet, Greg Przybylski, M.D., the North American Spine Society, the American Medical Association, various insurance companies, educational institutions, health systems, and journalists.
UNDERSTANDING THE DANGERS OF DOGMA

Dr. Kaul’s medical license was revoked by the state of New Jersey in 2014, leading him to sue the defendants. The U.S. Federal Judge Kevin McNulty dismissed the case, citing that the New Jersey State Board of Medical Examiners found “Dr. Kaul’s performance of spine surgeries on 11 patients without proper training and experience constituted gross and repeated malpractice, negligence, and incompetence.”

The Board imposed the statutory maximum fine of $20,000 for each of the 15 counts of malpractice and misconduct charged, along with attorneys’ fees and costs, totaling more than 9 Billion U.S. $Dollars.

Dr. Kaul, however, claims that his evidence “proves that the defendants, a collection of influential and wealthy neurosurgeons, insurance companies, and hospitals engaged in prolonged patterns of racketeering, evidence tampering, mail fraud, wire fraud, perjury, and obstruction of justice.”

He further alleges judicial corruption involving district court judges, leading to a lawsuit filed by Dr. Kaul on April 4, 2019, against Democratic Party Leader Senator Charles E. Schumer, the judge’s brother-in-law, and others.

UNDERSTANDING THE CONFLICT BETWEEN THE ART OF MEDICAL SCIENCE, THE RULE OF LAW OR ALLEGED DRUG DEALERS (IN WHITE COATS) AND JUDICIAL CORRUPTION
Dr. Kaul also seeks relief in the form of political campaign finance reform and a “Reformation of American Medical Boards.”
He highlights the alarming statistic of “over four hundred (400) physician suicides annually in the United States,” attributing the majority to corruption within state medical boards and the for-profit Federation of State Medical Boards.
Along with Dr. Arnold Feldman, an internationally recognized pioneer in minimally invasive spine surgery, Dr. Kaul plans to initiate legal action against these entities to reform the process of physician regulation in the United States and address the physician suicide epidemic.

They followed a new way, their way, and most of the conventional physicians of their day would have disagreed with them because this is not the way it has always been done..”
“..And if that is new — it bothers me that this kind of evidence can send a person to prison for as long as this has been going, some many, many years, but in any event, that that is the sort of evidence that is the basis for criminal liability.”
