In this account, Dr. Christopher Russo details his harrowing experience being wrongfully prosecuted by federal agencies during an aggressive crackdown on opioid prescribers. He sharply criticizes the Department of Justice and DEA, alleging that their case relied on flawed investigations and biased testimony from an inexperienced whistleblower.

Despite the total destruction of his professional reputation and personal finances, Russo celebrates his eventual courtroom acquittal, which he attributes to a superior medical defense that exposed the government’s lack of clinical expertise. The text highlights a perceived double standard in which wealthy prosecutors label medical professionals as greedy while facing no personal consequences for failed, high-cost litigation.

Finally, Russo frames the legal battle as a “clown show” driven by career advancement rather than a genuine pursuit of justice or patient safety.
RUSSO, MD ON RON CHAPMAN,ESQ

I’m too outspoken I guess. But I’m not going to be muzzled by anybody. My entirety of my efforts since I started Pre-Med in 1986 has vaporized by the DOJ-DEA as has my career, savings, income, hopes/dreams/plans, property, reputation, home and relationship. Not to mention the trauma to my family: People are still suspicious of me. The stink of this will never go away.

I am a huge fan of Ron Chapman! I saw what he did. He is a monster in federal court. Watching him do his thing was like watching Michael Jordan on the basketball court. Although he was not my attorney, I did benefit from his immense skill set and intellect. **

I understand why he blocked me because he has to exist in those legal circles and An angry loose cannon like myself who has no fear or respect for the federal agencies who tried to send me away and take all of my assets and who put my family through such trauma. Fuck them
Although he is a killer, he still has to play nice in the sandbox. I don’t. And I won’t. Nobody knows what it feels like to have your own government come after you with everything that they have including the media especially when you know you were operating well within not only the law but within the standard practice.

RUSSO, MD., ON FEDERAL JUDGE BRANDY MCMILLIAN

Fully educated with almost 3 times the fellowship training than most pain doctors. And the risks that we took not only medically but being everybody’s dumping ground for their opioid patients they all shifted their risk to us and we accepted that risk because that was our profession and then to have the government say what they said and do what they did still boggles my mind.
Everybody who knew me knew that this was a scam because they know that I was not a scammer. I was not a money grabber I was not dishonest and I certainly was not materialistic.

If the government had done even a cursory investigation they would have come to that realization.
But they did not they couldn’t care less they were going to bury us with their narrative and grind us down until we begged for a plea deal and those fuckers in the media were willing to do anything to get the approval of those feds
Anyways I digress. I will always be a fan of Ron Chapman whether he likes me or not. When it was actually broken down and presented to the jury, the prosecution narrative melted like an ice cube in the Arizona desert. They had no answers for an actual medical defense. We took them to the pool’s deep end, where they couldn’t swim.

RUSSO, MD., ON THE CLOWN SHOW

I hope you didn’t think I was lecturing you. You know what it feels like most everybody who is in my life does not. Now I’m not minimizing what my family went through watching them suffer was agonizing because their fear was different than mine. But knowing that this was all so unnecessary. Nobody who went into that Court room to watch the proceedings came away with any respect for the Department of Justice.

They masquerade as community do-gooders and protectors but they really are just slithering slimy parasites who are not interested in truth or justice but in guilty ” plea deals and asset forfeitures,” and career advancement.
Thus, our victory was equivalent to pouring sand in their gas tanks. thus our acquittal has been the only thing (in my life right now) that gives me any real pleasure or satisfaction.

RUSSO, MD; ON “TAKING THEM TO THE DEEP END OF THE POOL”
Brandon Helms prosecuted us for 3.5 years and I beleive he began to realize that this case (U.S vs. Bothra) was going to be one epic embarrassment because they had absolutely NO ANSWER to our medical defense, we drowned them everyday in the deep end of the pool. Helms a smart and he was clever. So we believe that’s why he bailed and quit on the very last day of the trial; and didn’t even bother to show up for the verdict.

I would really like to know what the backstory of that was because I’m sure there was a lot of drama there and I think that was also a great big fuck you to Randy and whoever else stuck him with that Bothra case. I think once he knew that we were not excepting play deals that they were going to lose.
That’s why they tried so hard to manipulate and for us to take their plea deals. Their initmidattions, bullying and threats were flying all over the Court house even seconds before the start of the trial.
They appeared very desperate for something as they realized their media proganda sugar coated case was going to be a bust.
Matthew Schneider left the DOJ only two months after our arrests his position was taken over by a career prosecutor named Saima Mohsin. No I did not go after her very hard because she wasn’t there for any of the decision making to go after us.
So I’ll give her the benefit of the doubt but what I do find disturbing is that she was the district attorney for Southeastern Michigan for almost the entirety of our prosecution. She directed and supervised that office and all of those assistant US attorney‘s. She is also exactly the same age as myself and Dr. Edu. We are all three of us were born in the same year 1968.

According to public records she is quite accomplished and very wealthy they say that she is worth $10 million. Now what I find appalling is that her office smeared us mercilessly accusing us of being filthy rich and greedy and living lavish lifestyle compromising our integrity and sacrificing our patients well-being and to line our pockets. The fact of the matter is that she was worth 10 times what I was worth despite being the same age.!!!!!!

To become an interventional pain/anesthesiologist it takes a minimum of 15 years of schooling and training after you graduate from high school. To become a US assistant attorney it takes a minimum of seven years.
Is she rich and greedy and living lavish life as well or are government lawyers allowed to work hard and try and make a lot of money no questions asked?

But doctors are not allowed to make any money and they certainly aren’t allowed to accumulate any sort of wealth.
Because they are supposed to be happy working their dicks off while it same time being the health insurance company’s fuck boy and are supposed to tremble in fear of federal law enforcement.

The indictment came from the whistleblower Hersh Patel. They didn’t even bother to get an expert involved until 18 months later.

So eager for fame publicity and money they didn’t even stop to think about the fact that Dr. Patel was essentially a trainee. He had not even spent one day out of his training program in a real job before he was tape recording the other doctors during his orientation and on the phone with the DEA and the FBI.

RUSSO, MD, SPEAKS HIS MIND

Why didn’t that raise any red flags with The prosecutors or the special agents with the HHS or FBI? He was able to give them assumptions, speculations and gossip and hearsay and half truths based upon the few moments he was in clinic and shadow in the other doctors he also gave them factually incorrect information that the feds swallowd hook line and sinker

For example he had not even met me yet. He had not been to any of the Satellite clinics, But that didn’t stop him from making generalizations about me personally telling them that I was a fraudster and I was greedy therefore I was a criminal what kind of person does that? Not to mention he wouldn’t sign his contract unless he made 25% more than the other independent contractors.
WTF
Shortly after this he was actually stealing Dr. Bothra‘s charts And giving them to the feds and to his personal lawyer because he was going to cash in on a whistleblower lawsuit
WTF

Patel was one of the new breed of Doctor Who has been trained and educated during the so-called opioid crisis essentially they are malignantly anti-opioid and have been brainwashed to think that anybody who prescribes opioids is a quack or criminal
Or both

The worst thing about everything is the fact that their incompetence does not cost them anything. They can get embarrassed in court by the defendants and mocked in the media and cost the taxpayers millions of dollars and the defendant positions their reputation their livelihood their business their income
Their employees their patients their professional relationships I mean the list goes on and on and on and it really doesn’t cost them anything they can just walk away and pretend like nothing happened.
