I continue to see articles on treatments and non-opioid medications for pain relief. All of the treatments and medications fall short of their goals. In addition, every medication has side effects that far outweigh their benefits. NSAIDs can cause GI bleeding, kidney failure, and peripheral edema. Tylenol can cause liver failure.
Neurontin can cause dizziness and mental confusion and is known to be abused. Lyrica has limited effectiveness and is used mostly for diabetic neuropathy and polymyalgia rheumatica.
The most effective medication is opiate pain medication. The side effects are even better when the opiate is not combined with other drugs. Why do we continue to substitute things that are not proven to work or where the side effects are severe?
The risk of addiction. The problem with using addiction as a reason for not using opiate pain medication is that it ignores the facts and misrepresents the benefits. The medication had proven effective since 1803, when morphine was synthesized. Patients deserve to have safe and adequate proven pain relief.
According to Linda Cheek, MD, “we must repeal the Controlled Substance Act to get the government out of the doctor’s office and bring pain management back. The Controlled Substance Act is the cause of most of society’s problems today. When you make something illegal, the strength increases, and poisons are added, leading to death.
Look at prohibition and alcohol, leading to moonshine and wood alcohol. Learn from history and stop repeating it. The Controlled Substance Act was created as an anti-minority act to incarcerate and disenfranchise minorities.
The War on Drugs was simply a Jim Crow function. No drug causes addiction. By not addressing the real cause, addiction doubles every 6-7 years and will soon be doubling every four years. Because opioids are the government’s choice to blame addiction so they can attack doctors for their money or remove them from practice, they will continue to reduce the opioids available until, her prediction, there won’t be opioids available by 2030.”
DOJ-DEA CRIMINALITY THROUGH FLAWED ANALYTIC MEASURING
PERSECUTION OF HOWARD ADELGLASS MD
Dr. Howard Adelglass, MD, a physician facing more than 20 years in prison, states:
“It appears from the data that I have seen that law enforcement cherry-picks through these data and arrests physicians primarily based on race, religion, foreign medical school graduates, doctors over 60, and doctors in private practice.
Law enforcement can then take the assets from these physicians and put them in jail. This is Un-American, and it is illegal. It is a violation of their civil rights. Other doctors in my situation did not go to college, medical school, internship, residency, and fellowship to become drug dealers.
These statistics are damning. They could convict doctors without using mens-rea until the recent U.S. Supreme Court Decision in Raun-Khan vs. the United States. These doctors were not allowed to say that they acted in good faith.
They have arrested over 1700 pain specialists for just doing their job. The stats I have seen show that 50% of arrested doctors are Asian, Hispanic, Black, Brown, and foreign-trained 80% are over 60 yrs old. 95 % are in private practice ( so they don’t get help from the hospitals, and 20% are Jewish.”
MISAPPLICATION OF CDC GUIDELINES
” The Guideline was developed to ensure that primary care clinicians work with their patients to consider all safe and effective treatment options for pain management. CDC encourages clinicians to continue to use their clinical judgment, base treatment on what they know about their patients, maximize the use of safe and effective non-opioid treatments, and consider the use of opioids only if their benefits are likely to outweigh their risks.
CDC is raising awareness about the following issues that could put patients at risk:
- Misapplication of recommendations to populations outside of the Guideline’s scope. The Guideline is intended for primary care clinicians treating chronic pain for patients 18 and older. Examples of misapplication include applying the Guideline to patients in active cancer treatment, patients experiencing acute sickle cell crises, or patients experiencing post-surgical pain.
- Misapplication of the Guideline’s dosage recommendation results in hard limits or “cutting off” opioids. The Guideline states, “When opioids are started, clinicians should prescribe the lowest effective dosage. Clinicians should… avoid increasing dosage to ≥90 MME/day or carefully justify a decision to titrate dosage to ≥90 MME/day.” The recommendation statement does not suggest discontinuing opioids already prescribed at higher dosages.”
EX-DEA AGENT WAR ON DRUGS IS A GAME
Dr. Linda Cheeks, MD, states out to all healthcare practitioners to learn the truth get a copy of American Agony The Opioid War against Patients in Pain by Helen Borel RN, PhD, and join the Doctorsofcourage.org communication campaign to US Congress to get the CSA repealed.
When drugs are legal, they can be taxed. The billions of dollars spent on chasing rabbits that can’t be caught will be saved. The border issue will be resolved. Illegal drugs will disappear, and deaths from drugs will decrease. Addiction can be cured.
The government understands they cannot stop someone from smoking, even though it causes COPD, cancer, and death. My body, my choice. The same principle should apply to drugs. The government cannot tell us what we do with our bodies.
