THE BISON DEFENCE
Once upon a time, there was a bison who wanted to help other animals, so he spent his life studying medicine to become a doctor.
Eventually, the bison came across a family of mice who were all sick, but they had nothing to pay for the doctor’s help.
“But without my care, your children will die. I must help, it is my duty,” he said.

Without a thought, the doctor gave them his aid, one after the other, and each mouse he healed was grateful. Soon, however, he began to tire and eventually became exhausted, yet still more mice came. “Surely, though, this deed will be worth it in the end,” he thought, and strengthened his resolve.

THE UNITED STATES JUSTICE DEPARTMENT’S USE OF THE MORPHINE MILLIGRAM EQUIVALENT AGAINST PHYSICIANS AND PHARMACISTS
Dasgupta explains how Morphine Milligram Equivalents (MME) lack clinical standardization and are prone to significant calculation errors. He reveals that four distinct mathematical definitions for daily MME exist, yet researchers and software vendors rarely disclose which version they use.

These variations in denominators—specifically how the word “day” is interpreted—can lead to vastly different dosage classifications for the same patient data. Such discrepancies have major policy consequences, as legal thresholds and insurance restrictions are often based on these inconsistent metrics.

“..The Tennant Protocol is a therapeutic regimen developed by Dr. Forest Tennant designed to treat severe intractable pain problems, explicitly focusing on adhesive arachnoiditis..”

the tenNAnt protocols
In this discussion, Dr. Forest Tennant introduces an updated medical strategy known as the Tennant Protocol, which focuses on managing severe, intractable pain from conditions like adhesive arachnoiditis. This three-part approach prioritizes suppressing inflammation and autoimmunity, regenerating damaged tissue, and ensuring adequate pain control to allow patients to function.

To overcome the reluctance of many physicians to prescribe traditional steroids, the new protocol integrates neurosteroids like pregnenolone and DHEA alongside herbal anti-inflammatories.

Beyond clinical advice, the source serves as a platform for medical board advocacy, featuring a guest physician who recounts how legalistic oversight and unsubstantiated investigations discourage doctors from treating complex cases.

Dr. Forrest Tennant aims to empower patients with alternative treatments while calling for systemic reform and accountability within state medical boards to protect both specialized practitioners and their vulnerable patients.

DR. TENNANT’S BACKGROUND
Dr. Forest Tennant, MD, DrPH, is an internist and addictionologist dedicated to researching and treating intractable pain. He managed the Veract Intractable Pain Clinics in West Covina, California, from 1975—initially focusing on cancer pain and post-polio disease—until 2018.

Dr. Tennant served as the editor-in-chief of Practical Pain Management from 2007 to 2017 and continues to hold an Emeritus position on the editorial board. Currently, he leads the Tennant Foundation and its Arachnoiditis Research and Education Project.
Dr. Tennant is a member of the American Academy of Pain Medicine, the Academy of Integrative Pain Management, the American Pain Society, and the American Society of Addiction Medicine. He has authored over 300 scientific articles and books.
