Data Call For Doctors and Pain Patient Advocates.
A few years ago, I joined a group effort to call out the US CDC for the impact of its forced taper policies on patient populations. CDC was forced to issue a letter disclaiming any effort on their part to force patients into tapers. The letter was an artful dodge, but it significantly diminished CDC credibility on these issues.
I now propose to address a similar public protest in another prominent journal.
Thus, this data call. For each of you on distribution who treat patients (and for others to whom you forward this data call), please respond to lawhern@hotmail.com with answers to the following questions:
1. For how many chronic pain patients have you treated in your career?
2. Of these, how many do you estimate that you have treated with prescription opioid analgesics?
3. Among your patients treated with prescription opioids, how many became “opioid dependent” in the sense that they experienced withdrawal symptoms if rapidly tapered?
4. Among all of your patients treated with prescription opioids, how many do you believe brought an issue of substance abuse with them into therapy?
5. Among all of your patients treated with prescription opioids during your career, how many do you believe DEVELOPED an issue of substance abuse as a consequence of opioid therapy that you or another clinician provided?
I will compile a spreadsheet of your responses before writing a short paper for a widely read medical journal. If you allow me to do that, I can include your names as co-authors. If you lack the courage to stand up and be counted publicly, I will keep your contribution anonymous.
I will distribute a draft before submitting to editors.
It is time to confront US healthcare agencies with the needless damage they have done to patients and the practice of medicine.

PATIENT ADVOCATE DAVID SMITH
Larry Ellison, echoing the utopian vision of Andrew Ryan from BioShock, has imagined a healthcare utopia where technology ensures eternal health and prosperity. However, his goal has become a dystopian reality in which data collection becomes a weapon of oppression rather than a means of liberation, eternal health, and prosperity.
Under the pretense of improving healthcare, Ellison’s systems have created a web of surveillance in the United States that has transformed the world’s largest dystopia, with incarceration rates reaching record highs as personal data is used not to heal but to control and punish, turning the promise of an American utopia into the harsh reality of the world’s largest prison state.
DEA NEGLIGENCE AND UNLAWFUL TORTIOUS INTERFERENCE WITH THE PRACTICE OF MEDICINE IN VIOLATION OF 42 U.S.C. § 1395:
David Edward Smith accuses the DEA of ongoing negligent and unlawful enforcement of opioid dose caps and medication combination bans, leading to forced tapers based on their fundamentally unscientific misunderstanding of dependency and addiction.
The support for guidelines regarding sudden discontinuation and the loss of access to necessary medications. Smith has argued that this constitutes “abuse of process” by the D.E..A, DOJ, and all law enforcement,” contending that these government agencies continued to enforce opioid dose caps and blanket medication combination prohibitions (such as with opioids and benzodiazepines) negligently and unlawfully, without regard to individual patient metabolism rates, absorption rates, reactions to, or tolerance of such medications.
This reckless policy by the governmental outlets has resulted in forced tapers, sudden discontinuations, and loss of access to opioids and other controlled substances, which has been a Proximate Cause of harm while also presenting a clear and present danger to millions of patients.
CONCLUSION
Americans are sick of the DEA, especially since their intrusion into the medical profession. Free Doctor Joseph Parker and Doctor Merideth Norris. Stop the harassment of Doctor Mark Ibsen and reinstate Neil Anand’s DEA licenses. We patients have had all we can take from our government. Stop using patients as targets.
