Veteran actor Kabir Bedi (“Sandokan,” “Octopussy”) is set to star as Dr. Raj Bothra in “USA v Raj,” a biographical drama about an Indian-American surgeon’s three-and-a-half-year imprisonment that ended in full acquittal. Emily Shah joins the cast as Sonia Bothra, playing the physician’s daughter who stood by him during the legal battle.

Kabir Bedi will star as Dr. Raj Bothra in “USA v Raj,” a biographical drama directed by Ravi K. Chandran. The film, based on Bothra’s book, chronicles his three-and-a-half-year imprisonment and acquittal on 54 federal charges. The production, currently in pre-production, will film in the U.K. and India.

The interview centers on Dr. Bothra’s unjust incarceration for 131 days on 54 counts related to alleged Medicare fraud, despite maintaining his innocence and eventually being acquitted by a jury. The discussion explores the severe impact on his life, family, and medical practice, and critiques perceived flaws and corruption within the American judicial system.

Oscar-winning sound designer Resul Pookutty (“Slumdog Millionaire”) leads the technical team, while the script is written by Zill-e-Huma, Shubho Deep Pal, Hussain Dalal, and Abbas Dalal. Prashant Shah of Bollywood Hollywood Productions. Filming will take place at Twickenham Studios and on locations in both the U.K. and India.

A federal jury in Detroit acquitted Dr. Lesly Pompy of unlawful prescribing, healthcare fraud, and maintaining a drug-involved premises after a month-long trial. Dr. Pompy was represented by Ronald Chapman II of the Chapman Law Group and founder of Chapman Consulting Group. George Donnini and Joe Richotte of Butzel Long also represented him.
