MEDICINE WAS HIGHJACKED
Years ago the practice of medicine was high jacked. Insurance companies were allowed to limit reimbursement to health care providers by initiating billing and procedural codes. This position was further strengthened by prosecuting health care providers for billing insurance companies for services that did not adhere to the proper billing codes.
Health care providers were arrested and imprisoned for insurance fraud. It was also fraud if you underbilled. This gave all the power of reimbursement to insurance companies.
A physician who felt he was underpaid had to spend time and money to recover fees.
a) How did this become law?
b) Why can’t a health care provider charge what they want?
Lawyers have no such restrictions. They charge whatever they want regardless of the amount of time they spend on your case.
The only way to immediately reverse this Injustice is for health care providers to refuse to take insurance payments based on coding. After all, physicians don’t treat insurance companies they treat patients. The patients, not the insurance companies have the responsibility to pay
for services.
CONCLUSION
We need to have congressional hearings to look into this Injustice and eliminate illegal and self-serving rules.
