MME IGNORES THE FACTS

The problem with all the conversations about MME ignores the fact that no one knows what MME has to do with drug absorption and addiction. The lack of knowledge of opiate receptors and the belief that addiction is dose-dependent continues to be the missing link. The reason for the need for increasing doses in addiction is due to the increase in the metabolic rate of detoxification by the liver.

A. ( Does anyone seeing this understand what I am pointing out?)

We treat diabetes better because we now understand what happens when we ingest food.  As a result, we have metformin that keeps the liver from making sugar between meals. We have insulin when our beta cells become depleted.

B. We have medications to excrete sugar in the urine to decrease circulating sugar not taken up by the mitochondria. Why not understand the physiological process of opiates?

Suboxone works by attaching to the opiate receptors and preventing any other opiate from doing the same. The naloxone portion of Suboxone prevents the overdose process. Euphoria is avoided because that phase of the Mu receptor is not activated. Because of the ceiling effect, u can’t give too much Suboxone. 

However due to the need for higher plasma levels of buprenorphine to prevent cravings high enough doses than are presently prescribed are needed. When we analyze a medication and process it correctly we will have more success in treating opiate addiction just as we do in treating diabetes.
