YOU CAN’T PREVENT OR CURE ADDICTION

Several countries have instituted new policies concerning opiate addiction with encouraging results. The amount of overdose deaths have dramatically decreased.

They employ the policies that I gave advocated for years. Legalize drugs and give the addicted individual the drugs they are presently using or drugs that are complimentary. If you look at what they have done it makes since. First they recognize you can’t prevent or cure addiction.

They can however decrease the amount of overdose deaths. Also overdose deaths are caused by individuals buying drugs in the streets. As I said before if a individual is addicted to prescrition opiate pain medication,  give it to them.

They will not advance to Heroin.  If they are addicted to heroin give it to them. They will not advance to fentanyl. Addicted individuals are not trying to die. They are trying to prevent dope sickness which is withdrawal.

I have never heard a addicted individual indicate that they are afraid of dying.  Rather they all say they don’t want to go through withdrawal.  When you look at it from a medical standpoint DT’s are more deadly than resuming alcohol use.

Likewise opiate withdrawal is more deadly than resuming opiate use. It makes sense to treat these situations by preventing what the individual using these agents fear. If it works, why won’t we try this approach in the United States?
