We all saw it, and while it has been rocking the media what has been unfortunately lost in the Sunday Nights Oscar presentation was Will Smith won The Academy Award for Best Actor in “King Richard,” an award given to an actor who has delivered the most outstanding performance in a leading role in a film. What has further been lost, is that two wealthy high achieving American Black male entertainers were unfortunately brought to blows by a needless misunderstanding and a slap seen all over the globe.
For whatever reason, the behavior between these two is to be deemed unacceptable, and it’s time for the Elders to step in to quell, let’s say this crisis, between Oscar-Winning Will Smith and award-winning comedian Chris Rock. The Both of whom are the benefactors of the hard work of those Ancestors who toiled before them that allowed these two their great successes many have aspired to achieve. It’s time for the elders led by former President Obama and XM urban view host Joe Madison in this barbershop moment to pull the coattails of these two aside and have the “other talk.”
A summit talk, a beer summit talk perhaps even at the White House but certainly a talk fit perhaps at the Historic Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta, a scolding, a wood-shed moment perhaps, and most importantly a settlement between these two entertainment giants.
And perhaps just perhaps this moment can also serve as a platform between the two recent Warring groups of Nations of Sisters and Brothers, Russia and Ukraine to have their own beer summit 2.0 at the White House or better yet in Atlanta at the same Historic Ebenezer Baptist Church where wise women and men will sit down and learn to live in peace.
