AGGRESSIVE OPIATE TREATMENT FOR SICKLE CELL CRISIS IS FUNDAMENTAL

In a Sickle Cell Crisis (SCC), Pain relief is the fundamental objective and Opiate treatment must be aggressive.

Helen Borel RN., Ph.D., wrote:

” This is what physicians must adhere to in treating the excruciating pain of an SCC… the opioid treatment must be aggressive. Due to their speed of action, the opiate morphine and the opioid Dilaudid (hydromorphone) is preferred in these instances.

Breakthrough pain requires “rescue” dosing of a fourth to a half of the main dose. Additionally, those Sickle Cell patients who’ve been on longstanding narcotics for chronic pain should be continued on these as well.”

THE HIDDEN PAIN

Pain is pain so why in some have pain and suffering been hidden and how governments have promoted narcotic analgesic laws that have the hidden agenda of racism but end up targetting an entire society and population.

The United States Drug Enforcement Administration is an extension of the Nixon War On Drugs which design was used to thwart the American Civil Rights Movement and the protest for ending the “War in Vietnam.” Its mission was simple:

JOHN EHRLICHMAN, NIXON’S DOMESTIC ADVISOR, MARCH 2016:

We could arrest their leaders, raid their homes, break up their meetings, and vilify them night after night on the evening news.

Getting the public to associate the hippies with marijuana and blacks with heroin, and then criminalizing both heavily, we could disrupt those communities.

Did we know we were lying about the drugs? Of course, we did.”

Fifty years later, both the war and its deadly mission continues and have been extended into our medical care system and a population of human beings suffering from this chronic intractable disease has now become victims.

DISEASE DISCRIMINATION AND REGULATORY RACISM

Pain does not discriminate it hurts and it hurts all over. Pain is considered a disease and its treatment has been made difficult by uninformed politicians and law enforcement.

Helen Borel RN., Ph.D. writes:

“Despite the naysayers and Federal troublemakers now beleaguering pain patients and their physicians, patients forced back into pain (left without their prescription narcotic analgesics), physician going to prison in the assessment and treatment of pain, the pain management specialist physician as do nonspecialist, recognizes that pain itself should be considered a disease condition. And that it should be sought for as “the fifth vital sign” among the traditional other four: Pulse, Temperature, Respiration, Blood Pressure.”

WHAT IS? LEARNING AND UNDERSTANDING SICKLE CELL DISEASE

BASIC TRAINING ON SICKLE CELL

SICKLE CELL DISEASE IN MEN

Glinda Dames-Fincher, MT(ASCP), Volunteer Medical  Adviser, Kincaid’s Kindred Spirits, Inc Adult Sickle Cell writes:

“Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) does greatly affect men. Terrence Joseph has a site about his organization here

https://morethansicklecell.com/

Michael Allen is a national SCD advocate who, along with his family, has experience advocating not only in Ohio but also in North Carolina, Virginia & DC to the US Congress.

SICKLE CELL COMPLICATIONS

Edward Hardy advocates for adult SCD patients at the hospital in Cleveland and his organization here

www.edwardfhardysicklecellfoundation.org.

I hope these contacts with male sickle cell warriors and hearing their experiences gives you more power in your fight to end this government overreach in pain management.
