THE NEEDLESS SUFFERING OF PEOPLE IN AMERICAN WHO SUFFER PAIN
Nancy Seefeldt a chronic pain patient has stated:
“If you don’t think our protest means nothing then just wait until you get cancer or some love one of yours a wife, brother, son, daughter, grandma or grandpa gets injured, sick or may already have a chronic condition such as Sarcoidosis, Complex Regional Pain Syndrome, degenerative spinal stenosis, then you would be here marching with us. And we are here because thousands of cannot be here because they are too sick and dying of intractable pain.”
The American Medical Association wants a major overhaul to the CDC’s 2016 opioid prescription guidelines, charging that the guidelines are unintentionally harming patients and accelerating the opioid epidemic.
“Patients with painful conditions need to be treated as individuals,” Mukkamala wrote in a letter to the CDC Injury Center’s Board of Scientific Counselors. “

There is an equally disturbing trend within the medical/pharmaceutical community wherein medical practitioners are targeted. Law enforcement agencies have conducted raids and arrested medical personnel for dispensing legally prescribed medications to the community.
“These agencies have failed to recognize a people’s chronic disease conditions of intractable pain while further failing to understand or comprehend human suffering, the science of clinical treatment, and the value of human life.”
Pain is real and what most people fail to understand is acute pain left untreated will become chronic pain and which will incapacitate and kill most people over a period of time as they and their loved ones suffer; pain is real,
THE AMERICAN AGONY THE OPIOID WAR AGAINST PATIENTS IN PAIN
From the Review of Helen Bogel’s Book:
Managing pain with opioids is a science—except politics, money, and overzealous law enforcement are denying American patients the relief they so desperately need. Demonizing the best pain reliever we have leads to needless suffering, even suicides, and it drives the rise in deadly street drugs.

Helen Borel gathers and presents the evidence, the intimidation, the raids of clinics, the chilling effect on those very professionals we trust to care for our loved ones and ourselves. She looks hard at the Veterans Administration, Drug Enforcement Agency, Department of Justice, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Chapters include “The Suboxone Hoax,” “The Wrong Arms of the Law,” and “The Epidemic of Death,” plus an entire section on solutions for this widespread crisis. Read American AGONY now—or you might be the next one hurt.
PAIN IS REAL

“Thank you for speaking up on behalf of chronic pain patients, and also acute pain patients. Another important side effect of this war on opioids is that surgical and post-surgical pain is being under-medicated by our doctors in no hospitals, including some of our best hospitals in the country.
I am a chronic pain patient with a lifelong disease requiring many surgeries in my lifetime. I remember when the pain wasn’t managed well, the short period when it was given the importance of a vital sign, back to being under-medicated. I live in terror of having to have another surgery, and have put off a needed surgery for well over a year now.”

CONGRESS: CLEAN UP THIS MESS
It is past time for Congress to correct the mess they have made of the regulation of opioid pain relievers. Here is contact information for your Senators, Representatives, and governor’ offices. Call them and demand that they:
- familiarize themselves with the problems they have created by reading this article in STAT news.
- begin work on legislation to force the repeal of the CDC Guidelines
- reign in regulators and drug enforcement authorities from their senseless and unfounded persecution of doctors.
To make it easy for them here is model legislation that, if enacted, will do all of the above.
