A Candidate Study for Retraction Watch From University of Sydney, Australia
Re https://scitechdaily.com/study-challenges-long-held…/

“..the flaws in averages used in medical treatment, highlighting the GIGO Law and genetic polymorphism’s impact on patient care..”
retraction on grounds of scientific idiocy and bias.
For the Academic Dean at the University of Sydney, Australia, and for the Chairman of your Academic Senate:
I write to suggest that a study conducted at the University of Sydney (link above) should be a near-term candidate for retraction on grounds of scientific idiocy and bias. I offer the following published papers as evidence for this nomination.

A major weakness of the paper you have allowed to be published is that it ignores the GIGO law: Garbage In / Garbage Out. Meta-analysis of a literature that is deeply influenced by bias and misinformation — which the literature on opioid safety and effectiveness is — can only produce nonsense. That’s what this paper is.

A FATAL WEAKNESS
A contributing weakness of the paper is its failure to mention the influence of genetic polymorphisms in liver enzymes, which affect the metabolism of almost 90% of clinically significant medications. This weakness, by itself, is fatal to the paper’s conclusions and, indeed, to over 90% of all published drug trials that fail to address variable metabolism. Any doctor who completes medical school will be aware of these realities.
VERDICT

Be aware that this letter will be posted to social media venues that serve registered readerships of over two million healthcare professionals. You have messed up royally. If you hope to remain employed anywhere in academia, then you must fix the mess you made!
WILFUL SCIENTIFIC NEGLIGENCE

By your support of this garbage, you have made yourself an accessory to healthcare fraud and hundreds of negligent homicides among patients denied safe and effective pain care on totally specious grounds.
Good Afternoon.
